My vision

I believe that as teachers, we play a key role in our learners’ development and growth. I try to teach my students the importance of being loving and compassionate human beings who have respect for themselves, for others, and for the world around them.

I love teaching and working with people, and I am committed to supporting my students on their language learning journey. I aim to encourage students to be confident and open when communicating; to have a curious mind; and to express themselves without shame or fear.

I am passionate about education; I believe that education is one of the most powerful tools that we have access to. Through harnessing its potential, we have the chance to create meaningful and positive change in the lives of so many.

I am inspired by working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and have had the pleasure of working with people from China, Spain, France, Russia, Belgium, Poland and India.

I am warm and empathic, with a genuine interest in each of my students. I aim to encourage, challenge and motivate those I come into contact with. At the same time, I hope to make the process of learning fun, engaging and stimulating. I firmly believe that teaching is a two-way process and I feel that I have just as much to learn from my students as they have to learn from me.

My experience

I have greatly enjoyed the experience of teaching English in schools and academies across Spain during the last twelve years, as well as teaching online for the last five years.

In 2017 I worked as a Volunteer English Teacher at a rural community centre in Rajasthan, India. This experience was incredibly insightful and humbling for me.

In the UK, I worked as a Student Mentor at Liverpool Hope University, supporting young adults with learning difficulties including Autism and Attention Deficit Disorder. My students faced many daily struggles and it was important for me to create a safe space for them: I wanted them to know that they were seen and heard, respected and accepted.

They say "variety is the spice of life", and I completely agree! I appreciate working with students of all ages, from very young learners through to elderly learners. While teenagers and adults provide the opportunity for a deeper, more analytical level of engagement and understanding, children provide the chance for creative, playful, fun interaction.

My methodology

I believe the best way to learn a language is to fully immerse yourself in the language. My lessons have a strong focus on communication, and I encourage students to speak as much as they can in lesson time. I want my students to start thinking, feeling and dreaming in English  and for English to become second nature to them :)

About me

I find the world to be an inspiring place! I am a singer and a guitarist in a band in the UK. I am passionate about art and creativity. I feel at my happiest when amongst friends and family, when I am spending time in beautiful nature, and when I am with animals.

I also love film, literature, photography and travel and I am interested in community work and social inclusion.

Where I am based

I am from Liverpool in the UK but I have lived and travelled throughout Spain for many years. I currently live half of the year in Liverpool (so as to be closer to my family & friends), and the other half of the year in Cazorla - a picturesque rural town in the heart of Southern Spain. We are surrounded by beautiful mountains, forests, rivers, lakes and epic wildlife. I settled in this town a number of years ago because I fell in love with the quiet serenity and intense natural beauty of the place, and it was here that I met my lovely Spanish partner Joaquin 😊

"I enjoyed all the lessons with Amy because she was always well-prepared, elastic in choosing the subjects, provided the lessons in the very interesting way. She has helped me a lot in improving my speaking skills. With her help I've started to speak much more fluently, feel more self-confident while expressing in foreign (English) language. "Amy is truly an exceptional teacher :). I know this from my teenage daughter who has had regular lessons with Amy for 2 years and enjoys them immensely. Working with Amy means not only conversations but also deepening vocabulary and grammar assignments. My teenager was very afraid to speak English and after lessons with Amy she has incredibly opened up and speaks freely. Besides, Amy's good energy and smile make it so that even when my daughter has a break from school she doesn't give up her lessons with Amy. I absolutely recommend!" Magdalena

"Amy is one of the best English teachers I've ever seen. It started about 3+ years ago when my son started learning English from her. She has a lot of love for children and always motivates them to become expressive and interested in the language. Her teaching is always well adapted to the child's interests and weaknesses in language learning. My son passed the KET and PET exams of the Cambridge English Language Assessment (CELA) in the past 3 years, and he is good at listening and reading, and he is very good at speaking.Amy has in-depth insights and thoughts on teaching English, and my son likes her style of teaching and has become friends with her!"
